The COVID-19 crisis and digitalisation

Improving the way we work, collaborate and train in the animal health sector is a challenge, whether it be in veterinary schools, in industry or in clinics.

The animal health sector ‘behind’ in digital training

Pedometers for heat monitoring, bowls or straps with connected sensors, telemedicine, communication via social networks and other service platforms… Although the veterinary world has been growing quickly for several years in terms of e-health and digital transformation, the animal health sector is still lagging behind the human health sector and other industrial sectors.

The key to success in today’s world

Animal health professionals cannot ignore the real transformation of their profession today. The same applies to training: e-learning, virtual reality, gamification, etc. Progressively, the offer is becoming digital. Nevertheless, the training offered by veterinary pharmaceutical laboratories, animal service companies and veterinary practices is still largely face-to-face, whether that be for their employees, partners or clients.

Indeed, technologies are still generally considered to be “gadgets” and are rarely included in an elaborate and coherent training strategy. This is where the difference lies. A veterinary training programme with a clearly defined objective, resources that correspond to expectations and engaging content are the keys to success in today’s world.

The current crisis has accelerated a transformation that has until now been limited.

The Covid-19 crisis, an accelerator for the digitalisation of animal health

At the beginning of 2020, no one could have imagined all the upheaval that would occur during the coming year. The Covid-19 pandemic and the measures it brought about, and still does, (lockdowns, social distancing) are disrupting human relationships, their interactions and their lifestyles in general.

The value of distance learning

In this context of crisis, companies and employees were forced to adjust very quickly to cope with the emergency. Remote working, maintaining internal communication, keeping the link with customers and patients… Companies and institutions in animal health have to adapt their processes and modus operandi, but also improve their working tools. Digital transformation is accelerating and growing out of necessity.

The same applies to training: the digitalisation of animal health training has become unavoidable overnight. Many companies and institutions have seen e-learning as an opportunity to develop more skills. A large number of companies in the veterinary sector have seen the value of distance learning and have started to digitalize their training courses.

Most of our clients say they have changed their approach to veterinary training, demonstrating a certain agility in this area.  And they see direct benefits: a freer and more personalised organisation, better concentrationtime saved by avoiding transport and finally a reduction in transport-related expenses.

The crisis has highlighted the value of digital learning; however, few of our clients feel that they have successfully implemented this change… So, how do you design a real e-learning strategy with convincing results at the end? Our agency, which includes experts in training strategy as well as specialists in the veterinary sector, can help you every step of the way to create the training experience that suits you.
